1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LocalDiff.dev ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

LocalDiff.dev is a free, browser-based text and code comparison tool. The Service provides:

Side-by-side and unified diff views with word-level highlighting
Syntax highlighting for 20+ programming languages
AI-powered smart merge via Google Gemini (requires network connection)
File upload and URL content fetching
Downloadable HTML diff reports

3. Privacy & Data Processing

All text comparison processing happens locally in your browser. Your content is never uploaded to our servers. The only exception is the AI smart merge feature, which sends the conflicting text segments to Google Gemini through an anonymized server-side proxy. By using the AI merge feature, you consent to that data being processed by Google's Gemini API under Google's terms.

4. Advertising

The Service is free and supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Ads are clearly labeled as "Sponsored" and are never placed over the core diff interface. Google may use cookies to serve relevant ads. You can manage your ad preferences via Google Ad Settings. A cookie consent banner will prompt you before any marketing or statistics cookies are set.

5. Affiliate Links

We may display links to third-party products and services. Some of these are affiliate links — if you click and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are presented as recommendations for developer tools we find useful. They are not paid endorsements.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to compare content you do not have the right to process
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service
Use the AI proxy endpoint for purposes other than the smart merge feature
Circumvent usage limits in an abusive manner

7. Usage Limits

The free tier allows 10 comparisons per day, tracked in your browser's localStorage. This limit resets at midnight local time. Enterprise users with a valid enterprise key are exempt. Usage limits may change with reasonable notice.

8. Intellectual Property

All content you paste into LocalDiff.dev remains your property. We claim no rights over your data. The LocalDiff.dev software and branding are our intellectual property.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOCALDIFF.DEV SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when Terms were last revised.
